New shoes for my 68 Delta

Upgrades, upgrades and more upgrades..... Finally got all the pieces together to replace my VERY heavy chrome smoothie wheels with these beauties. Took me 3 years to gather together all the wheels, completely refinished and added my own little flare to them. Since Olds had the SS II, SS III and SS IV wheels, lets just call these SS V wheels, since these technically came on an Oldsmobile for 1 year

Went to an Olds only show in Oldsmar, FL the day after I got these mounted and got TONS of questions about them. I just love putting together something unique and simple, but still eye catching!!!

OK- some years the Buick version had small centercaps. Which Olds centers did you use? I like!

It's like that set of Motor Wheel Exiters I put on the Hurst. I found that an 80s FWD SS3 centercap would snap into the Exiter center tower like it was made for it. Then I found that SS1 repro center decals fit perfectly in that centercap, so walla! Who's to know it wasn't a Hurst Experimental wheel?

I like those wheels also, but both Buick and Olds used that style of wheel for three or four years... the Buick wheel was darker grey paint and Olds was lighter argent. The Olds hub caps are very difficult to find compared to the Buick caps. The early year wheels used a wheel nut with a large flange and cone on the nut that fit into a corresponding groove on the wheel and later wheels used the later style cone nuts. Your wheels appear to be the later wheels.

Thanks guys. Took me a while playing around with different combinations until I came up with these.

Wheels are 1990 Olds Custom Cruiser, which was the only year you could get them on an Olds, but those had a big center cap that covered the whole lug area. Completely refinished and powder coated.

New lugs from a 1987 Buick Estate Wagon (which was the only year, I believe) came with tiny center cap and dressed up lug nuts.

New center caps from an 80-81 Corvette and the embossed emblems are from Fusick, for the SS III center caps.

I also added flush mounted valve stems to finish them off. Funny how the guy at the tire shop looked at them and was completely floored. Had no idea how to use them.

Yes, Buick used these wheels from the early-mid 80s all the way to 1990 on the RWD full size and the RWD wagon, but the 85 and earlier used shaft style lug nuts, while 86 and newer use the acorn style nuts.

Beautiful! Love all the upgrades. I will ask the age old question.....front discs are from what? I have a complete set up, including the 15" wheels from a '67 delta that had the option, that I plan on installing in my delta. But, inquiring minds want to know. .😉

Front brakes by Scarebird. I did a post on the install a few years back and they made it a sticky. Here's the link.

Where on LI are you? I grew up in Medford, then came to sunny FL in '92.
