my 84 delta 88 needs a new transimission need help
right now i still have the factory thm-200c which is slipping really bad and will probably give up on me soon. ive looked around on google and it seems i have a choice as to what transmission to replace with. i've heard that i could either use a 200-4r, a thm350, or the stock and crappy thm200c. ill end up buying a junkyard transmission and then rebuild it. but id rather avoid the 200c as i drove on it for only 14,000 miles and its toast. and it sucked since day 1. the only difficultly is the crossmember and clearance, i need to know which of the 2 transmissions will fit in with little to no modification. and with whatever transmission i get what about the rear end ratio would i have to chance the gears

is a thm350 a straight drop in do i need the xmember from the donor trans or can i use my existing one from the 200c and what year and model car should i pull a trans from. my car is a 1984 oldsmobile delta 88 brougham v8 4dr

I would say a 350 from a delta 88 or any b-body with an olds engine should just drop in. i do think you can find them in any g-body with a olds engine. 80-88 for the g-body an 80-85 for the b-body.

Most of the cars you've listed came with either the TH200 or the 200-4R. Only the diesel cars got the TH350. To get back to the original question, the TH200 crossmember will work with the TH350. The TH350 came in three different lengths. If you get the one that matches your TH200, the driveshaft will bolt in.

thanks for all the help guys so i guess my best bet is to find a 350 and drop in. will i have to do any work to the rear end gear ratio? and what length is the 350 that bolts in on the stock 200c xmember. and should i get a 350 or 350c. my stock trans is a 200c. and has a wiring harness for the converter clutch i think its a 3 wire set up
