looking for a distributor for my 1962 oldsmobile dynamic 88 holiday sedan 394 2 barrel. I cant find a replacement anywhere. I've also tried to buy a replacement from the local parts store just to find out it was too short. I need help bad!

 

Rockauto shows one for about $100. It's rebuilt, not new, but in situations like this, you often have to take what you can get.

 

Fusick Automotive shows one, too, but it's almost three times as much. It includes the cap, apparently.

The Rock Auto listing is wrong . That distributor is for a second generation Olds ( 1965 & up ) .
The one from Fusick is correct .

Looks like NAPA and also any parts store including RockAuto with the Cardone brand of rebuilt distributor want to sell you a distributor made for the later style Oldsmobile V8; obviously an error on the rebuilder's catalog but that doesn't help you. As stated above, Fusick does list a replacement rebuilt distributor for your application but at such a dear price. New performance distributors are available from Mallory and maybe Pertronix and/or Davis Unified Ignition. There are some specialty rebuilders out there, check "advanced distributers" for one that comes to mind; also Dave Ray at "davessmallbodyheis.com" will rebuild your distributor and upgrade it to electronic ignition (Dave has been down with a severe infection in one of his hands but his web site is still up). Have you placed a wanted ad in the classifieds section of this site; there are many who may be able to help you. Best of luck.
