Leak behind rear driver side tire (water)

Today was pretty warm in Dallas so I had the A/C cranking usually of course when I park the car I notice water below the front on my car from my A/C components which is normal from the heat.

But I also noticed today behind my rear driver tire some water as well any idea how or why its there?

Prob a dumb question but I was a little worried and perplexed

There is nothing in the back of your car that contains water (except, in my case, the trunk, after it rains ).

Perhaps it was from the A/C drippage, flung backwards from the winds of moving forward?

Condensation from the exhaust?
Is it near the pipe?

May be from a leaking back window. Look inside the trunk drop off where the lower rear quarter panel is connected, you may have a pool of water there.

Trunk seals are great and dry as a bone also window has no problems.....I think Rob might be on too something even though its odd it would be flung from the passenger side on the engine to the rear driver side tire.

I got this response from the gbody forum

There is a drain hole in that location. If it hasn't rained recently and you have washed your car then check your trunk. Leaking in my car at that location was caused by windshield washer fluid leaking from it's container

I'm out of town when I get back to TX I will double check and post pics.

Maybe a dumb couple of questions, but here goes.
1. Any chance it could have been a gas leak and not water??
2. Are the rear shocks leaking?

I know the spout is at the back of the car, but my 83 Ninety Eight developed pinholes in the top of the tank and leaked out there, dropping down to the ground just behind the right rear tire. Anyway, just some shots in the dark.

Definetly not gas put my finger in the fluid clear with no smell, shocks are fine they are original in a 70k car.

Well those 2 are good news. So is this fluid a little bit slippery if you rub your fingers together? The only other thing I can think it would be back there is brake fluid. Check to see if there's any sign of leaking from the rear backing plate, and also check the front brake fluid reservoir to see if it's full or down somewhat.

Does this car have a sunroof? It is possible the water drain hoses go back there and that one is partially clogged... If not, time to pop the trunk and trace it back uphill. Maybe a hidden bottle of water that has sprung a leak? Trunk seal lip has a rust hole allowing water to ender and collect?

I'd be inclined to thing what Rob said. I had a drain problem like that on my 83 Ninety Eight Regency Brougham. If it is a drain problem, git'r done. Mine ended up getting plugged up and I didn't know till after a very heavy week of rain. It was a disaster.

This just goes to show Rob gives the best car advice I've ever seen off a forum......Turns out a gallon of water was hiding in my trunk

how you guessed it Rob I don't know but thanks.

So now the question is how did the water get in there and why did it not drain quickly.

So was it a bottle of water that was leaking? Sometimes people would carry some in case it was needed to add to the radiator. There are cardboard flaps over the quarter areas, under the mats in the trunks of these cars that make good hidden storage places for stuff like this. I stuff old but usable belts and hoses in them, in case of a roadside repair is needed.

Lady brought back 2-3 gallons of rain water from South Carolina when i drove her home.
I heard some sloshing noises when I would brake. When I got home I found out that the rear quarters had 4" of mud in them! There was a lot of cleaning afterwards...
