Hood liners

Hey guys

Dumb *** question but does it matter what side goes towards the hood vice the engine when installing a hood pad?

The one I have has the scratchy fibre glass side and the other side is smooth.

Thanks

I would put the smooth side toward the engine.

Actually, the smooth side goes toward the engine in the more modern cars. But on the 60-70's vintage, the smooth side goes toward the hood. Not sure why it was done that way.

That is weird. Most of the cars I see at shows have the smooth side to the engine. Hence my comment.

Hmm, seems like those cars have the pads installed the wrong way. I just bought a reproduction pad for the 69 conv and in it there was an instruction sheet that told how to install it. It was a generic installation sheet but I think it said cars earlier than 80 something would have the smooth side to the hood and the rough side toward the engine. After that 80 something year, it was reversed. I do see companies like Fusick selling a pressed hood pad that is expensive. That pad is smooth on both sides but is also technically incorrect. And the one they sell for the 68-72's did not fit my 69 hood at all....not even close. Long story.... I ended up buying the "economy pad" which is the type that was on these cars originally.

Took mine out of the Alero when it got all gross. The first Delta's was hanging down a bit and I removed it so it wouldn't cause a fire (Along with a whole bunch of bug eggs)

This Delta didn't have one.

IMHO, don't need it
