Help ID part missing?

Hi All,

I noticed a transmission leak in my Dads car 1961 Dynamic 88 when he goes in reserve. I took a pic underneath and noticed a hole on this trans plate. Should a gasket be there? I cannot put a screw there because there is no threading.

Looks like a drain hole to me, in an inspection cover that you can remove to get a better view.

I will assert that there is nothing missing there.

Only leaks in reverse. Wondering if there should be a rubber piece in that hole. Maybe if broke or got too old.

That is a drain hole and should be there, I would check by removing the cover and see if it is leaking all the time or only in reverse, could be that in reverse the oil is washing back and dripping out. I would think the front seal might be tired and that is where the leak is.

Looks like it's the plate from torque converter. I took it off and saw the inside. Nothing leaking except once it's in reverse. The trans fluid is low now also.

"The trans fluid is low now also." Yes, that's usually what happens sooner or later when there is a leak........

Why don't you fill it to the proper level, clean it, take it somewhere and drive it in reverse then look. Either that or don't park it where you need to back up.

Brought it to a guy to look at and the transmission pump is bad. He is trying to locate another.
