Heater Core Installed!

Spent the day installing the heater core I bought last weekend on eBay... what a PITA! Me and the inside of the car ended up covered in 44 year old insulation dust (probably asbestos)... didn't look like anyone had ever been in there before (hard to believe)... but I got it done and it, cleaned up the car and now have a good heater (the wife and I have found a convertible with no heater can end up being no fun... even in summer). Right after I got done, while I was testing it, the temp control cable snapped, D'OH!! The blend door moves freely, not sure what happened (maybe it was just "it's time".) Oh well, I can reach down and adjust the lever by hand until I get a new. I do notice a "moaning" sound from the heater core area on acceleration now, I'm thinking maybe a air pocket or something? Anyone know what that's about? Next weekend I tackle the rear power window motor!

I opened up the manifold fitting on my Vista to try for more heat and discovered that it moaned because there was too much coolant flowing through it when the engine speed was increased, so I installed a rear heater in the back of the wagon and put a gate valve on the heater input to slow down the flow...

Good call. My car doesn't have a heater control valve anymore... so it was flowing at full pressure. This morning I installed a 5/8" inline restrictor in the inlet hose... that took care of the problem. Thanks for the advise!

I feel your pain, Years ago I had mk6 lincoln that develpoed a leaking heater matrix. After spending most of a day getting it out I found a previous owner had gone to the same trouble but instead of repairing the leak had simply stuffed bondo round the leak and put it back.
