decisions, decisions, decisions

hi, new guy here, i posted some of my info in the newbie forum. i have a 53 olds super 88 2 door hardtop. im rebuilding the original 303. im in need of a carburetor, rochester 4 bbl. im considering using 3 deuces on an edelbrock or some other intake. the decision im having trouble with is to use this set-up or use the stock set up. one of the reasons is that the whole car is in original unmolested condition. i will be getting drivetrain up to par and driving it as i found it. the exception being running dual NOS cherrybomb mufflers with propane injected exhaust flames. if i decide to run the 3x2 set up, i will keep the original parts to switch it back later if i want to. its not like the change cant be undone.....like if i were to chop the top or anything like that. sooooo......does anyone have a 3x2 carb set-up? how does it perform? are you happy with it? does anyone have one they want to sell? thanks for your help

It is your car, and you are entitled to do with it as you please. No harm, no foul where it may be returned to original.

I am in process of putting my 56 back together and have a 3x2 setup on it. Be careful what you buy, and make sure the linkage on the 3x2 is on the drivers side. I bought mine many years ago and realized when I went to hook it up, the linkage is on the wrong side. I have just spent the better part of the last 2 months designing and making custom linkage for it. I will be posting some pictures in a few days; you definitely don't want to go thru what I just did. good luck, Chuck

Just thought of something else. I had a 2 barrel on mine and the pivot for the kick down linkage to the transmission was part of the carb. I had to fab a bracket to locate a pivot in the original position for the linkage to work after the carb was removed. You might want to take a look at your 4 barrel to see if it is the same way.
