Thanks. Glad someone besides me likes it. It replaced the original black vinyl, which lasted for 47 years! I do not think the black vinyl did anything for the car, whereas the gray cloth compliments the gray/white interior.

Actually, the Thunderbird DOES have white wall tires. 1966 is a very desirable year for the Thunderbird, and it actually has a higher book value than the '65 or '66 Oldsmobile 88's. The only reason I'm letting go of it is because I have a sentimental connection with this Olds. So I think it's a fair trade.

I still drive and show it. I should have probably left out the old part, it made it sound as though it was in the past......Tedd

This is my 1949 Rocket 88 coupe. Not sure if the post and picture will work in this thread as I'm a newbe ish. If it does I'll post more.

Not working even though I've followed the 'tips on uploading photos' Need to practice on a test area, does this forum have one?

Don't want to spoil this fine thread. More white walls please, Any 49 or 50s?

Kahuna, if you don't mind my saying, your "other woman" is gorgeous. I've always liked the '62s! They're the first cars I remember my folks owning. They had two of them.

I was just reading about one of those in Hemmings Classic Car (Nov 2012) yesterday. Those old wagons are tough to find in their original state. Really cool!

You realize you can make those whitewalls as wide as you want, right?

Pretty easy too. The white is there already, you just grind the black off it.

AM99888's 88s

Dad was a loyal Olds owner for many years. Here are a few of them he owned over the years. There were more that he/we never got pictures of. And, I think they all had whitewalls!

49Olds88PanamaCityFla_zps016dd800.jpg
The one that started it... 1949 88. Medium Blue.

53Olds88white-red_zps04b355f8.jpg
1953 88 w/straight stick. White/Red. Purchased new.

53OldsS88brown-yellow_zps6e8e0bdf.jpg
1953 Super 88 Holiday Coupe. Brown/Yellow.

51OldsS88white-grey_zpsdd42f208.jpg
1951 88 - White/Grey
54OldsS88white-red59PontiacStarChiefin1960_zps0408c1dd.jpg
1954 Super 88. White/Red.
62OldsDynamic88black_zps357c387c.jpg
1962 Dynamic 88. Black. Traded this one for a Blue Metallic 1962 Super 88 w/AC. These were the first cars I remember.

67OldsDelta88white-blue_zps4ef39cdf.jpg
1967 Delta 88. White/Blue. 425 2V and geared for cruising. (Notice the old bus in the background. We switched that over to an Olds drivetrain, too!)

Interspersed with all of these were a '50 88, '55 88, '57 Super 88, '68 Delmont 88, '90 Eighty Eight, and several 98s. But, I don't guaranty they all had whitewalls!

Have to tell you, these pics are great/fantastic! They are a veritable "slice of time." I love the shot of the '49, not only for the car but also the story it tells about the post-war housing boom (Levittown).

I also like the '54 with the '59 Pontiac in the drive next door. Then there is the '62. Is that what we wore in 1962?

Great shots!
