66 Starfire Antenna

Need to replace the antenna on my 66 starfire, I would think it would be the same for other 1966 88 series olds also. Would like it to be a close resemblance to original but does not need to be a perfect match. I have scoured the internet looking and the closest I could find was for a 66 impala. It looks like it would work. Any help finding one would be appreciated.

Not that I can help, but to be clear, is it a power antenna or a manual antenna you are looking for.

It's a manual telescopic antenna mounted on the right front fender. Fender has a 5/8" hole for the antenna.

65-66 Starfire Antenna Options

There were 2 options. Right front fender manual / fixed length antenna. Optional was the right rear trunk mounted electric antenna. If you go electric, you’ll need the under dash mounted antenna switch too. Plus ideally the harness. The harness is 3 wires to the trunk: up (+), down (+) and radio signal coax back to the dash.

The dash switch will need power from the fuse block too - either ignition key-switched (as factory) or unswitched (your call). I went unswitched since I was alway forgetting to lower the antenna after I shut off the car.

When I rebuilt mine, I went with the optional electric model which was common to the 65-66 88’s/98’s/Starfire. I had to fill the as-delivered manual right front fender with a plug & bondo.

Fusick makes the chrome parts for the electric installation as reproductions. Hit up eBay and you’ll eventually find a good GM electric antenna setup which can be made to work from most all the makes/models (big cars, anyway) from the years 65-67 or maybe up to 70.

Hope that helps.
Chris
