Angry 58 Super 88 Transmission

Hello again ,I hope everyone is safe and well, Hopefully somebody can help me out with this issue, I had my Jetaway rebuilt about two years ago and it has been running great up until this past Friday, I drove to the supermarket all good but as i left to go back to work the transmission would not change up into 4th? It goes into reverse fine and drives from 1st ,second and third but the engine just revs and it will not change into 4th for some reason. I have checked fluids etc and all is good with that side of things, Hopefully i don't have to take it back to the transmission guy ?? Many thanks in advance for any advice, Cheers Ray,.Brisbane Australia.

Try checking the throttle linkage adjustment.
That's the linkage between the carb and the trans.
Instructions are in the 1958 Oldsmobile shop manual;

You are lucky to have a "transmission guy".
Most places won't touch this trans.

Hello there Charlie, thanks for the info, I checked the linkages as you suggested but they seem fine, also there is no oil leaks etc , underside is clean as a whistle. i've booked the transmission guy for the 9th October, Hopefully he can sort the issue for as less $s as possible , thanks again for you advice< Cheers Ray.

We don't drive these cars many miles each year so I imagine in two years you didn't go very far. I would hope the transmission guy gave some kind of guarantee.

Hello again , just an update on the transmission, he seems to think there is a loss of pressure in the governor ? hence not changing gears , still waiting for him to put car up on hoist, ive ordered some new rings for the governor , just wondering if there are any orings or gaskets that may have failed, ? Cheers, Ill update when i can, Cheers.
