54 Super 88 Convertible
I didn't want to feel like I was trying to steal Billythekid's thread so I decided to post a couple pictures of my friends 54 Super 88 convertible. He is 79 years old and had one of these new. He wanted another and had looked for one for 20-25 years. I found this car on ebay in 2002. It is very well documented and was a California car with very little rust. It was an ugly gold color when we got it. It was orginally sold in Grand Junction, Colorado and was solid Capri blue. We bought a parts car that had power steering and brakes and the two little chrome pieces that separate the color on the rear quarter. We also added a working Autronic Eye an Wonderbar radio. We pretty much reproduced the interior from what we found in an original dealer manual. My friend was very pleased with the way the car turned out. When I have driven it, it draws comments at every stoplight. I grew up with muscle cars but this old Olds is really fun to drive. That is yours truly at the wheel.

I learned to drive in a 56 Mercury (I was about 12-13). That was about the all the involvement I had with them until I drove this car and my friends 50 Olds convertible. I think the thing about these old cars is the romance with the automobile. I think his 50 Olds is the one they are using on the new banner unless it belongs to somebody on here. You also have to drive these old cars. Now your 57 is a little different. I have followed it closely. Neat car.
Yes the 57 drives better then most old cars. Just finished disc brakes all around. Now it stops as well as it goes. Next I'll make some steering box mods to tighten the steering up a bit. That 54 is a sweet ride bet is puts a smile on your friends face everytime he takes it out for a ride
Friend in CT is looking for 53 98 Convertible
A friend of mine in CT who is a very savvy Olds guy, is looking for a 53 Olds 98 convertible. He has a 98 hardtop but wants a convertible to go with it. If you hear of anything, please pass along and I'll get word to him.

Man, I knew a guy in Michigan that had this exact car. he bought it from someone that bought it from the original owner's estate with only 8,000 miles on it! This car was mint, showroom, unmolested condition- in a heated and cooled garage since the 50's. The second owner got in a pinch financially and liquidated it to the guy I knew for a mere $5K! He was a pencil pusher type that just wanted a toy and had no idea what it was. He hired me to come over and inspect all of the vitals. I took the wheels off and made sure the brakes were in good operating order. Needless to say, it had every last remnant of original hardware and shoes on it. The car was impeccable, inside, outside, and underneath. Even the stitching on the convertible top was supple and like new. The car was an absolute dream to me. It took some pushing on his part to get me to drive it around the block, it was so pretty and perfect I didn't want to. We went, though- and it was a spin I will never forget! I then knew what it was like to drive a brand new car from 1954, just like it was when it rolled out of Lansing all those years ago. Capri Blue, she was, with white two tone, and Autotronic eye, just like this one. And chrome galore! So much, even on the inside! It was unreal. The guy wanted to make sure "he got a good deal.." I assured him that he had thoroughly raped the guy he bought it from. He was a douche, though- the car wound up covered in dust and junk in his garage, and that was the only time he ever drove it. he sold it a couple years later to God knows who, and at a huge profit. Some people never quite know what they have- I would not have traded such a time machine for a pile of paper that doesn't even have anything of worth backing it. Here's to the pencil pushers, may they all get lead poisoning..
