307ci to 407cid engineswap in 1979 delta 88 (Brake upgrade question)
Hello, im going to replace the 307 to a newbuild 407ci (orginal a 400ci) that has 381hp and 596nm (torque)
My question is.. does anybody know what my standard vented diskbrakes in front are good for in Hp? is it a document on this specifications? i need to get it if so. or any ideas of what brakes i can upgrade to that is bolt on? do i need diskbrakes in rear too?
And what is the total torque on the car/chassie/frame is on this cars?
i have 10bolt 8,5" rear axle with 9" drums in rear. and i have the Hydroboost brake type in the engineroom, i think it was orginale a dieselcar before..but i can only find out in the papers it have 5.7l 350 engine before.
boltpattern over all is 5x4,75"
the reason of this is because i want to have the new engine in the papir of the car was my idea. (Norwegian rules if engineswap)
thanks for answers.

Braking power is more or less unrelated to engine power- two different systems. It is prudent to ensure that the brakes can overpower the engine, sure.
Your new engine is not much different from/ heavier than the 307 or a 350, so that should not be a concern. Your factory brakes should be fine.
Total torque on the chassis/ frame? That of the engine multiplied by the trans gear and converter ratio. Not sure what you are asking there.
Generally only Die&Sell cars came with hydroboost brakes- perhaps your 5.7L was a diesel.

I agree that his was a diesel in its previous life. Engine had/has nothing to do with brake system as the same standard braking system was used for all gas powered cars if I remember. The Hydroboost was used because diesels have no vacuum.
