1981 Delta 88
I have never heard of the "lightweight" body option or even seen wheels like the ones on this car.

Well, I'm gonna be first to call BS on the "lightweight body option". Those aluminum components were not uncommon and I don't believe they were part of any package. The wheels were an available option and I have seen them before. That style cap was used only on the big cars.

Wheels are option code N83. Look a ways down in this thread for details: https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...rome-15x7.html

"lightweight" could be a different way of saying it's the base model, crank windows, am radio, and a 260 under the hood.
The lightest Delta from 77-85 tipped the scales at 3600 lbs

This car has been on ebay a few times before with that same listing. Nice car, but I wouldn't pay that much for one.
You can still find them with mint interiors and faded paint for 2k.
Put 3-4 k into body work and have the same car... with better paint.
Look closely at the hood hinges and springs. They are aluminum, and the hood is too. The front and rear bumper inserts would be aluminum as well.
Base models usually had 90lb. steel front bumpers, and steel hood and hinges.

Once again, price is directly proportional to the length of the ad copy...
Pretty car. Worth $13K? Not so much. I paid $50 for an aluminum hood for my Custom Cruiser and the car came with the fiberglass tailgate. It also has crank windows. I guess that makes it a rare "lightweight" car as well...

I have another issue... I'm not sure anyone's caught it yet...
If I have my thinking right - 83/84 is the first year for an OD or "4" spd tranny. If I have it right, that means - Houston we have a problem...
Bottom Left corner - Doesn't that say "D321"? I have some 3spd indicators, none say PRN321
For a car that was "meticulously" cared for... Perhaps J will be able to add his 2 cents, but...
Shouldn't this car still have the front "air" piece, you know, the piece that goes from the header panel to the rad. support? I took mine off because I yo'd it up...
You also won't be able to convince me that the car has never been repainted. There are some pics that you don't have to know what you are looking for to see the orange peel in the paint...

Also, 81' was the first year of the 200c and 200-4r in the deltas, and the first year for the computer stuff as well.
An 80' delta would have a th350 still.
Also they used the older style steering wheels until 82. You'll notice this steering wheel is the 70's style still. And the wiper switch should be in the dashboard, and not on the column stalk yet.
One photo makes it look like there is a crease in the rear bumper.
All in all, it looks to have all of the correct parts on it. The royale header panel emblem is correct as well. That's also a 77-81 thing.
After that, they had the rocket symbol there.
FDwheelman: If you are looking for another set of those rubber core support pieces, send a PM to Mike's 88 over on Oldspower. He should have a set of them.
