1976 Delta Royale Hurst

Has anyone ever seen one of these. My mom had one in 76. The top was back halved in vinyl with a stainless strip about 6 inches wide separating the paint from the back of the roof. Her's was red with a white top and white interior. I think they made them in lime green as well. I remember as a kid looking in the door jamb and finding that Hurst had done the conversion. It had no markings as to the Hurst heritage nor was it equipped with the 455. It had a 350. If I can dig up a pic of it I'll post it. Just thought of it out of the blue and wondered if anybody knew of these. it's funny how you take for granted what you're driving and years later think, "Man was that a cool car, I wish I would've kept that one".

Well found the pic and remembered how nice that car drove. Wish I had had grabbed it and stuck it away. Oh well, my 68 will NEVER leave me!

Royale Crown Landau option. I think they were available all colors including a midyear Cinnamon Bronze, and I've seen white, black, mahogany and silver vinyl roof covers. My guess is you could also get the dark metallic blue vinyl roof same as regular 88/98.

I've always found it strange that the H/OCA recognizes the 1974 Delta Pace Car convertibles which Hurst had nothing to do with, but does not recognize the Crown Landau which IS a Hurst conversion.

Didn't know they came in all colors. My Dad put aftermarket rims on my Moms and it looked really nice. I'm not too fond of the hubcaps. One time my buddy, my Dad, and I were riding in my Dad's work truck bench racing on the way home from work and he brought up the fact that the Delta really "handled". Well me and my buddy started cracking up. It did have thicker anti sway bars but I think that was about it. Hurst did some cool stuff back in the day.

I expect the car was ordered with FE3 suspension. The Crown Landau was strictly a cosmetic package. I always thought it should have included either Super Stock IV polycast wheels or the 1977-79 chrome wheel option, instead of those blah Salon wheelcovers. Didn't much like them on Salons either.
