Smile 1953 Olds 88

Hello, I am new to this forum and wanted to introduce myself. I just bought a 1953 Olds 88 with the original 303 and hydramatic tranny. The car is 99% complete but needs alot of work done. Starts and runs. Not bad for 700 dollars I thought. Even had the original paperwork in the glove box. Just need some advice on where to find restoration parts.

kudos, post pics. I am sure there are ppl who can help you out sourcing parts on your project. Just post what you are looking for specifically, and give ppl time to see the post. Chances are some body has what you need. I may still be able to find a couple of trim type pieces for you. I worked for a guy that had a 53 ragtop. I think it was an 88. when he was a kid his dad parked it "out back" There was not much left of it but I could have gotten it for $300. I still dont have the resources or knoledge to take on a project of that magnatude, but i'd still like to own that car. Any how I can see if he still has it, and if so what is left.

That is a beauty! And yes, she does look to be in good shape. You'll have fun with this one. How does the wife feel about it?

Actually the wife liked the idea of getting the car. She's been wanting to find something to fix up and take to local car shows. Guess I am lucky on 2 counts then. Should not be a difficult project, hoping to have most the exterior and interior work done by this spring. Thanks for the good comments.

53 Olds 88 fuel pump

Does any one know where i can get a rebuild kit for the fuel pump? I am pretty sure that the diaphragm is ate out cause it is leaking fuel out the side of it. I have been only able find entire fuel pumps but not just a kit. I am sure someone sells them and I am just not looking in the right places. Thanks for any help.

Brian, Welcome to Classic Olds. I think you can get that rebuild kit from Kanter or else Fusick. I remember seeing it or else a rebuilt complete pump in one of their catalogs. I also saw a fuel pump on ebay the other day. Nice car.
