Talking 1951 Olds 4dr Rocket 88 4 sale

I wanted to know if anyone was interested in a green, 4 door, 1951 Oldsmobile rocket 88 that is all original and been parked in a barn since 1975. Is dusty as hell, and inside smelled of the varmits. There looked to be no rust, remember it was pretty dark in the barn. What is something like that worth all redone. I am currently working on a very rare 1942 Dodge custom 4 door and a 66 Cyclone GT. I am wondering if I should invest in this car and what areas I should be looking at for rot or signs of trouble? Looking for some help here guys, I'm not a Olds man but hey, its and oldie and looks to be a goodie, I'm ew to this site and if things go well....my way not the wifes, I'll be staying here,
My regards......
Glenn

well, here is the biz on the barn. It was built in 1879 and in need of repair and is FULL of stuff. You name it and its there and jammed around the Olds. It will take weeks of cleaning to get goo photographs of the car. I coundn't even get around to the back to check that out. But the interior and the dash looked in very good shape and it has all the interior AND exterior mouldings. I'm sure a car this age has some rust, none that I could see around the whell wells, frotn or rear, but what I really need to know...is the car worth the money to by and fix up. It is all original and its all there. Can anyone give me an estimated price of a fully restored car like this. I do know it has the rocket 8 cyl engine in it. Any help would be greatly appreticated and any special places to look for trouble spots too. Thanks
Glenn

Thumbs up 1951 Olds

Depending on what you might pay for it .Of coarse dont forget to charge them for cleaning out the barn! Any car thats 50+ yr old & complete is always worth looking into see if you can turn engine over.by hand if nessary Floor pans & frame are always a big concern .Barn finds are usualy in pretty good condition. I pull them out Quite often & end up smiling !.there is a 51 & or a 52 on ebay for $1000 pretty rough watch it & see what happens .Let me know when you get it out Larry (vintageozarks.com)

Just a little advice here. I bought a 57 that I am trying to restore and when it comes to rodents, they like to get up into the dash and eat the wires. As a result I had to get another dash for it. They will also get into the rear wheel wells up into the area above the corners of the rear seats. I took so many grain shells out of there, unbelieveable! The rodent urine will cause metal to rot faster. You really have to take the seats out and the door panels off to see how bad it is.
Good Luck

Sounds like an interesting car and an interesting barn. Would it be possible to look around at other items in the barn?

Really almost impossible to give a value on even a restored car but you will probably have more in it than what you will ever get out of it. That being said I say go for it, 51's even 4 door 51's are very cool cars and will turn heads everywhere you go....Tedd
