Was possibly the 78th day of 1970 buick plant.

And the castings on the side are the housing number.

rear end

casting number is for a 12 bolt OLdsmobile
12 bolt cover 10 bolt ring gear. service years 1967 -1970
Many Buick Olds and Pontiacs and even Chevys came with these rears.

67 68 in the W30 cars had 31 spline axles while the rest were 28 spline axle axles.

Hope this helps...A bit late but at least it is there for future reference. Jim

The O type 12 bolt, as far as I know, was NEVER installed in a Chevy from the factory, do you have any proof of that? I am not sure about B&P but have never heard of an Olds 12 bolt factory installed into anything other than a 67-70 Oldsmobile A body. Now, Chevy 12 bolts were installed in many Canadian built Oldsmobile and Pontiac A bodies.

1970 there was a GM strike so rears were all over the place in the A-body cars. Monte Carols had Pontiac rears from the factory el caminos had 12 bolt olds rears.

No proof just was... Jim
