I would like a source to purchase axle bearings, retainers and seals for a 67 Cutlass axle code SC with 3:08 gears.
Also a source for a water pump for the 67 330 motor 5.1 inch long

Yep, local parts store is the best place. You will need to know what rearend is in the car in order to get the correct parts (Olds O-Type 12 bolt, BOP 8.2" 10 bolt, etc).

I'd go to a NAPA store for a better quality part over autozone.

 

BDI. Bearing Distributors Incorporated, google for a location near you. They should have a USA (or Swiss, German or Japanese) sourced bearing. Doubt you will find retainers new. Retainers are normally reused. BDI may offer a choice of seals as well. Ask for the seals that have the spring incorporated in the rubber lip. Be sure to pack the spring side with grease before driving it into the housing and dont let the axle shaft rub on the seal on the way in. The grease helps retain the spring.
I tried the Big Box chinese bearings, junk. Both lasted about 5000 miles and nearly ruined 2 axles.
Have your bearing dimensions handy. They may need ID,OD, Thickness and seal architecture if they cant cross the number stamped on the original bearing or seal.
Have someone in the know remove and press on the new bearing. A monkey will destroy a bearing in short order. If the wrench is really good he will cool the shaft and warm the bearing prior to installation.

 

FYI, the last wheel bearings I bought were Japanese made Timken from AutoZone. I don't typically buy parts from AZ but I was quite surprised they had the same Timken bearings as other parts stores but at a bit better price.

 

I have had good luck with Japanese bearings on other applications but not in an O axle. Good to know. Japan has come a long way and in many cases has kicked our butts in the engineering arena.

 

Ditto on Napa quality. I found made in USA Timken at Napa for my 70 O type but that was 7 years ago and maybe Napa buys others now (or sadly even the USA manufacturers like Timken may outsource these particular ones now to overseas.) Skf brand are also good. Stick with made in USA, Canada, Japan, Germany and other western european countries like Switzerland. I would avoid bearings from china, Korea, India. Eastern Europe etc.

Also, some Napa stores have a machine shop like mine, so they did the press on/press off for me.

NAPA did not have a water pump and can't order one.
So still liking for the pump 5.1 inch long, anyone have a source for the pump.

 

I find that hard to believe, one of these from rockauto will probably work.

Which appears to be a WP for the Action Line [Cheby] straight-6 engine.

They also list both 2.0 inlet and 1.75" inlet pumps as "w/o AC" - which I believe may be incorrect for any one engine [the 330 for example].

In my database and from my experience, all pre 68 5.1" long pumps have a 2.0" inlet; the 5.1 x 1.75" casting was not used until about 1970.

Therefore, beware of other idiocy in their listings.

 

From what I have seen, the '70 and earlier engines used the 2" inlet and '71 and later engines used the 1.75" style.
