Auto to manual Swap.
I did it to my 68. What I did was find a complete setup on ebay. Then I had my motor rebuilt with the correct crank. I added some high perf goodies in the process. You can use the same crossmember. You need a new driveshaft. Don't forget the swingset the pedals hang from in the car. It is different than with an auto. It's alot of work but worth it. I like 4 speeds too.

Well, despite what Year One shows in their catalog, both my 69 H/O (power disc brakes and AT) and my 70 W-30 (manual discs with MT) came factory with plain rubber ribbed pedal pads with no shiny metal "Disc Brake" emblem.
So you think I should put a no disc brake pad on there. I got that one from The Original Parts Group. I thought it looked cool with the center section. This is gonna drive me nuts. Thanks alot Joe! Just kidding, if it came as an option I'm keeping it. The car is getting a 3.73 gear as we speak. It should be done soon. I've heard that before too.

In the immortal words of Judge Smails in Caddy shack, "Well, we're wating". Joe seer of all, knowledgeable beyond the infinite, Oh Great One, please tell me your aswer! LOL Did you figure that pedal thing out? I don't want to get laughed at when I show the car if in fact it is a Chebbie pedal. Here in Mokena Illinois we are having a thing called The Concourse De Elegance in downtown. It's a nice show but unfortunately they are calling for rain. I was gonna show the S but will have to show the Vette because the S is STILL in the shop. I forgot to put in OWNER OF SOOO MANY COOL CARS...I WILL have a 69 H/O before I die!

you mentioned installing a crankshaft that would accept the throwout bushing. Year One offers an adapter that will allow the bushing to be mounted on the back of the crank. Is there any disadvantage to this ? And what all came in your swap kit ? im very interested in doing this to my 69. As a matter of fact, when i do, my TH350 will be up for grabs if anyone is interested.
The crank on an Olds has a relief on the trans end to accept the trans input shaft. If the crank does not have this relief it will not fit. That is why I changed cranks. It had nothing to do with the throughtout bearing. However you can get jigs that allow you to drill the proper clearance to make everything work. It is a whole lot of work but rowing your own is in my opinion, worth it. There is a thread in the projects section at the top of the boards where a guy restored a convert and drilled the crank. I will try to find it for you. My "kit" was just a guy selling a complete M-20 with all the parts. Springs, bell housing , fork, z-bar, pedals, etc. There are kits out there but are somewhat incomplete. Look in Original Parts Group and Year One. I still had to hunt down some small parts that were not inluded. Don't forget you will need a swingset for a 4 speed. They are diff for an auto. Jim

The thread is called last pic of it together for a while. It is in the general discussion section. Check out the whole thing. This guy is awesome. Somewhere in the thread he shows how he drilled the crank for the 4 speed. Really stellar work done by this man. There are also many people on here who are much more knowledgeable than I but I will help if I can. Good luck, and you won't regret it. Look at my thread well here it is in the small block section too. It's pretty cool and I am proud of the way it came out. Jim
