delta 88 posi rearend

Hi guys my 1971 delta 88 is the old one tire fire and i would like to change it to a posi rearend.

Is there any other GM car that I could find a posi carrier/gears that is interchangeable for the delta???

Thanks

Is it the 9.3" 12 bolt cover or the 8.875" 10 bolt cover?

I have a corporate 8.875 posi rear axle here, I believe from a 78 wagon. It's a c clip 2.73 rear.
I'm willing to part it out if the posi unit will swap over for you, but you will most likely have to use your side gears if it does.

Perhaps monzaz or 507olds will know more info about compatibility.

years are different

The 1977-1985 Full size cars are really A-body rears from 1973-1977

So you need to stay in the 1971-1976 era of FULL SIZE GM cars.

Buick, Olds, Pontiac, Chevy, even Cadillac NOT WAGONS!

ALL 10 bolt 8.5, 8.875 Pontiac (10 bolt cover 12 bolt ring) and Olds 9.3 (12 bolt cover 12 bolt ring) rears will be the same mounting points for this era of car.

Jim,
Are the B body limited slip carriers hard to come by for the 71 Roger has? He and I chat via email every so often so I get to hear some of the stuff he's going through now. Right now he's in the process of rebuilding his 455. It may stay stock or change CR to 10:1. Either way it's not a drag car, but a damn fine 2 door Royale. Do you have any suggestions for him or can help him with a carrier?

BTW, that series 3 you sold me is finally in the car c/w 3.42's. Waiting till spring to check it out. Thanks for all your help on that BTW.

Thanks for your input guys.....im not in a hurry for this mod.....just looking to see if there is any straight carrier assembly that would just swap out!!

Been looking on the good old internet for some parts and might start looking in some local auto scrap yards once all the snow is gone and it would be nice to know what im looking for before i go!!

thanks!

list of cars

The list i gave is the only place your going to get the unit you need. It is pretty large range for a rear 1965-1976.

Jim

I would need to check the shelf. The steep carriers are hard to find. Jim
