I have a 1972 Cutlass convertible with a recently rebuilt rear end.

What is the best method to install the rubber rear axle bumpers (near the lower control arm attachment) into their slots?

Perhaps Brian Trick or Monzaz have some good advice they would be willing to share on this?

 

If they are new they should be soft and easy to install.

Hard old ones you could soak in kerosene for a minute wipe clean and then oil the rubber where it goes into the slot. Usually makes it easy to slide in. take a rag with some brake clean and wipe excess kero and oil from the rubber. usually we clean them this way too works real good unless you have heavy undercoating on them.

I used some white grease this morning and they popped right in! (after struggling yesterday!) Thanks for the tip!

 

I used vaseline on mine - same quick install.
