Ok you rear end experts I have the 57 Olds with the 455 in it with the stock 3:08 ratio open carrier. I have a 64 olds 8 bolt anti-spin unit with the 31 spline side gears. Are the 29 spline side gears available or do i need to have custom 31 spline axles built from one on the axle vendors?

I think I'd call Moser and get a set of their axles. Easier, and safer than 54 year old axles anyway. The bigger axles are stronger, as well as Mosers being better than stock.

 

Ok well I guess this would all be on your funds available as side gears will be way cheaper to do than the Moser axles. IF you are NOT racing these axles will work absolutely fine...IF you are in the drag race seen do the MOSER AXLE UPGRADE FOR SURE.

When you say 8 bolt you mean Power lock unit? (picture reference)

 

I am sure there is another guy out there that would swap 29 spline side gears with you for your 31 spline side gears

They have to be from a POWER LOCK (8 bolt posi unit your reference)

 

Mine looks like this. I don't race the car but would like the anti-spin for street use. So a pair of side gears would be nice if I could find them
