Hi I'm new here (from Eastern Canada) I have a 73 Cutlass Supreme and planning to change out the running gear dropping a 455 in it with a th400.

I picked up a 8.5 posi with a 3 ser carrier (410408N) but havn't a clue what the other numbers I found are, can someone decode them

Stamped on the outside housing 8NV G4115

On the ring gear 2GM 1235124 15 41 4 84
I manage to search and find out the 15 41 is for 2.73

This rear end seems to be a direct bolt in, it's the same width and the spring and shock mountings seem to be the same. It also had a sway bar.

This is a great site for getting info and been lurking for the past year.

Welcome to the site Leo! There's a couple guys here that are very knowledgable about rear ends. Hopefully one of them will be able to key out the codes for you. Do you have any pictures of your car you can post? John

 

Thanks John for the welcome, I only have access to one photo as my computer crashed and I'm using my daughters laptop. This photo was taken at a local GM car show this year I hope it works.
