Hi Everyone I was having a problem w/my rear-end puking out of the vent,This went on for 2 weeks ,I talked to the guy in PA that rebuilt this 12 Bolt ,Eaton,He told me use Pennzoil 80w140 NON,Synthetic And add a bottle of a/c delco #10-4003 Limited slip Lube 4 oz bottle Anyway I drained the rear-end and I got a gallon plus out of it. And the stuff that been puking out,So I can't find the Pennzoil I'm told they don't make it no more, Shell makes one named spirax? but I can't find it What can I use in this that is good and not synthetic I found Valvoline 80/140 non-synthetic what do you guys use and am I right about 2 1/2 QT's plus the 4 oz slip

Plus I have a small leak at the weld area of the axle where it meets the rear-end and Ideas to stop the leak I was thinking on epoxy or Something?

 

I would run non-synthetic with that posi unit.The synthetics are more slippery,& can cause havoc on your clutches.I put 85/140 in all of my rears.They take 1 1/2 quarts,depending on what cover is on it,as some allow for more capacity.If it had a gallon-plus,there was too much in there.

 

Understatement of the year!
It's supposed to be filled to the bottom of the fill plug on the side. With the cover bolted on, and the rear end installed and at ride height, Just keep adding through that hole until it runs out.

 

What brand of gear oil would you use the cover is a
Moser Performance Cover it has TA on it the fill is in the center middle and the drain is in the bottom middle before I drained this I ck the fill level w/my finger and I could feel it. Thanks

How do you overfill it anyway?
Mine was the same way.

 

I took the car in to charge the a/c I told him to put some posi lube additive but I guess he just pumped the stuff in The rear-end is fine Just trying to fine a good brand to use

 

You can use the Coastal brand that you find at most of the auto parts stores.there are usually 2 choices of gear oil.There is 80/90,which is in most books for specs,and there is teh 85/140.We aren't running these in the winter anymore,& the heavier oil can only help.
