Correct gasket for rear diff cover?

I have a 1971 Cutlass S with an 8.5 10 bolt rear end (picture below). Would this gasket work? It looks like it would stick out of the sides since the cover has indents between the side bolts. Is there a better gasket to get?

Yours looks like 66-67 rear. This may be the gasket you want.

You could also skip the gasket and use a good gasket sealant instead - the gray Permatex tube is what I use and I've never had a leak. Just make sure both surfaces (cap and diff) are clean and free of old sealant chunks).

You have to use a 8.5 ROUND cover gasket OR find one that was laying around on a parts shelf somewhere in the USA ... We use the 8.5 round cover gasket and cut 1/2 round moon scallop from the gasket material and it works great.
