Are all the GM Full size rears the same? My understanding is that the Oldsmobile and the Pontiac are EXACT, but what about the Cadillac???

Reason I am asking is, I found a 1964 Coupe DeVille posi rear, and was thinking of swapping that out for the sloppy noisy non posi rear in my 1962 Starfire.

Any thoughts??????

I have no idea what the rearend in that Caddy will be.

8.2 buick?
8.2 Pontiac?
9.3 Pontiac dropout?
8.875?

They could have anything under there, especially after all these years.
I wouldn't risk it until you've seen what it is first hand.

 

According to Hollanders' only Olds & Pontiac fit.

Pontiacs may be wider than Olds. Remember the Pontiac "wide track" advertisements? Otherwise, they are the same. Caddy is all by itself and an inferior, antiquated design with a pinch "lobster claw" type of side bearing retention.
