NO Slip unit
Remember you must have a .795 cross shaft pin open unit for the 8.2 Pontiac 10 bolt NO SLIP unit. The Buick early open units have a .733 pinion cross shaft which will not work. So if you have a unit in the 8.2 with 2 open window same size it is probably a Pontiac large pinion cross shaft unit and your good. If the one window is larger than the back side it is a Buick unit and may have the .733 diameter shaft. There might be a Buick
1st 2 pics are Pontiac open unit... what you need. the second pic shows the difference from the Pontiac to the Buick Left is Buick and the right is the Pontiac open unit. BEST to measure the cross shaft ...
If the Power trax is installed correctly it is a strong tough unit. We install plenty here with 4 drag race tracks in thew area for weekend warriors that still want some street and hard track time. They do click in turns
it is the center gap which is critical on the install.... as i remember .130 to .154 gap anything more is wrong anything less is wrong . too small a gap it will not release in turns and bang... to much gap and it will pop loose in the straight.
upon all the installs NO SLIP unit do not use shims the lock right use your original thrust washer shims. AGAIN this is your job to measure and most kits have a little piece of machined block with the proper gap measurement to measure your power trax gap.
I PMed you on the unit we have on the shelf.

larger shaft open carrier too. I would need to check our shelf and see also.
Just some more info you might need to make your install go smoothly
