Where bearings
Where bearings
Picked up my new rear wheel bearings from napa today... BR 10.......... My old ones came apart.....iner race outer race, but the skf....BR 10 from napa are one piece.......anyone use these
Roger, that doesn't look right to me either. Here's a couple of pics of my bearings/seals on my 72 done 2 years ago. One pic shows the OEM seal/bearing/keeper. This is exactly why I take pics of the before/during/after on the build.

Glad it worked out Roger. Just got back from Mexico and was watching some of the Olympics when I decided to browse a bit. So out of curiosity what was the issue with your oil seals/bearings and bearing retainers?
Did you get the gaskets for the plate yet?
BTW, when you slide the axle into the tube you just rotate it a bit at the carrier to help the splines find their grooves and then give it a good bump and it'll seat the bearing/oil seal nicely. Then it's all just snugging all the bolts down to the recommended torques.
This part of your build looks like before you pulled the drum backing plates?

The only issue was the retainers......used a big press at work today!!
Just set my pinion preload.....had a dial inch [pound toque wrench and it was sitting at 10 inch lbs so I gave it 1/8 of a turn and now its at 50 inc lbs f rotation....high end in the book is 32 on new bearings!!.....**** **** ****.....no got to get a ne sleve and nut......and try to remove that bearing with out damaging it

Sounds like you're getting the education of a lifetime with that Delta. Yer a better man than I am skipper! Wish I had that heated garage of yours. No way your Delta would come close to fitting in mine.

You should use this tool , or something like it .j-8614. google it
.it's a big heavy bar that bolts onto your pinion flange , then you use a socket and big breaker bar ,to tighten the pinion nut ,in small increments, till
you reach your ,pinion bearing preload.. spec ..
some guys just "gun" the pinion nut on , but , you risk overtightening it,
and your pinion brgs will fail in a few hundered miles.
Make it right the first time !!!
