Changing your rear end.
Don't just toss the driveshaft in and call it good without confirming it's actually long enough. Fortunately it only cost me an extra $40 but it could have been worse.

I got a new/used yoke from the shop for $20 and had the seal and bushing in the tailshaft replaced for $20.

The new shaft minus the yoke was $300.

Yeah it could have been much worse than it was.
On a side note I now have a 68-72 A-body driveshaft the correct length for a TH400 with an 8.5 axle available with new U-joints that just needs a new yoke.
