thoughts on a perfect launch diff cover

I was looking a replacing my old rusty rear cover when I do my posi unit and gears. I've read they reduce wear. Anyone using these or others ? The are 180.00 up here in Canada.

If your referring to the heavy aluminum cover that include screws to add preload to the diff caps they do reduce wear. But it would have to be in a heavy car with some power and sticky tires for the benefit to really show. The preload screws help prevent the bearing caps from moving around under load.

Thanks Matt, yes the heavy aluminum with the screws. My 76 is heavy with not a ton of power with Bfg tires. I Would really like to know if anyone has used them. I'm leaning more to the look I guess.

I use one. Every rear I've ever shelled broke because the main cap snapped. I put one on my current car even thou it's not a big HP car, but I did spend a grand on the rear end and I figured it was cheap insurance.

Here is the other side. I ordered it through performance improvements up here in Toronto Canada. The cover is aluminum. I had to remove the paint from the mating surface and just cleaned up the inside a little with emery cloth.

Cover

How thick is the Aluminum where the cover bolts go through 1/2 3/4" ??

I use a derivative of T/A cover I found them to the one of the thickest covers around. The more Aluminum the better...
I race and do not use any performance cover at all. 10.50 2750 car.

Car is light But I also sell rear diff parts and try to get customers to understand that not always the trick parts are needed and that you should concentrate on the set-up and maintenance of the part.
For a Heavy A-body such as yours I would install it for sure you can use all the help you can get to keep it stable with weight of the car. Heavy car and lots of torque leads to broken parts. Jim

I will do my best to install all parts correctly with the cover I purchased. If anything goes wrong and I make a mistake then I will give you a shout and order another set lol. Thanks for your continued support .
