MONZAZ Anti-Spin rear question

I have a 455 in my 57 Olds and have be looking for a posi for 2 years with no luck because of the spline count of the 57 axle. Any thoughts on how to overcome this issue

57 problems

Geez.... I wish I could solve this one as I wouldf be a RICH man...lol

The first and best thing you can do is to find a posi...like a power lock type. Whatever type you can find. 29 spline 31 spline or even 10 spline.

The easiest way to get out of the mess is to have axles made for the posi you find for the olds or pontiac drop out.

I know people have said that making different side gears can be made BUT the amount (cost) would be in machine work will comne out to well over the price of aftermarket axle shafts...

I will always keep looking for options always...Just do not have the Magic on this one...YET... Jim

Thanks Jim,

What about replacing the whole rear with a newer GM 12 bolt. Welding on spring pads is not a big deal. I would need to find a compatible width right. Does this sound fesible.

A guy on HAMB suggested that I look for spider lockers. I could not find info on the web that explained how these work. Any thoughts?

Last but not least I do have a 62 31 spline anti-spin were do I go to get pricing on custom axles

I'd call moser or strange on the axles. I'm sure they could hook you up with something.

custom axle work on rear ends.

If it is a leaf spring rear ...YES any stock GM axle housing will do the job. If the bolt pattern is 5 on 5 a 78-96 impala could work nicely and a lot of them are posi and have 3.08 like from a road master from 90 -96 have 30 spline axles too.

they will be 61.5 " drum to drum and have the 5 on 5 lug pattern. 10 bolt 8.5

I also have a 78 Caddy 3.42 posi 12 bolt same width with the large bolt pattern you can shave all the perches off 799.00 takes that one.

Take care, Jim

Use '59-'64 axles.

I understand (from the internet) that they used several different lengths, during that time, but I do know that (at least) some of them will work with the '57 Olds/Pontiac housing and Eaton carriers.

Pat, I just came across this on Craigslist. Don't know if it's what you need but I'm passing it along just in case. John
