Yes it will I dont know what tranny you have 350 or 400 but it will fit you will have to move the crossmemer but if it is like my 66 lemans it had the holes all ready drilled in the frame for it. You will also have to have the proper drive shaft if you have a 2 spd and go to a th 350 the stock one should work. You will have to have it cut down if it is a 400. If it was me I would spend some time and money on it before you drop it in dont know the state of your project but if the 455 is used I would put a new timing chain in it water pump and maybe a new cam and lifters while it is out and alot easyer to get at and paint up the bay. I pulled my wire harness out to paint made it easyer to put starter on and hooked all back up after the engine was in . JMO Good luck and keep us updated

All B body cars had longer extensions than the A body cars. If you use the TH400 from the 71 use the yoke for that tranny as it too has a longer snout. You will have to shorten the driveshaft and maybe different front and intermediate e cables. You may also need different motor mounts.

NOOOOOOOOOO! How many times do we need to go over this???

Use the stock 330 mounts with the stock frame pads. Use the SEARCH function on this site to find the other swap details. This has been covered to death. The 455 is externally identical to the 400 that was offered in the 1965 442s, so it fits like factory. Your 65 will NOT have the holes drilled for the TH400 crossmember location, you'll need to drill them. The e-brake cables will need to be changed to those for a 1967 442 with TH400 because of the different crossmember location.

When I had my 70" and switched from a 350 to a 455 I used the mounts and pads from the 350. #7 plug was directly behind the steering shaft making in very hard to remove and install that plug. A friend had a 72" Supreme 455 and I noticed the plug just cleared the shaft. I aquired a set of 455 mounts, installed them and plug was just above shaft. I searched online but could not find listings for 455 mounts(not correct ones by their pics) but found lots for 350. In the parts catalog it lists the mounts for 350 & 455 as two different numbers thus two different parts. I don't have experience with pre68 vehicle thus the word may.

Regular readers here are probably as tired of reading this as I am of writing it, but once more for review:

The location of the motor mount bolt holes relative to the crank centerline is EXACTLY the same on all 1964-1990 Olds V8s (again 1964 394 excepted). The motor mount difference is because in 1969, Olds redesigned the rubber mounts to have an internal "fail safe" interlocking feature that restrained the motor from torquing over even if the rubber deteriorated. This made the rubber mounts physically larger, so the frame brackets were changed to accommodate them. THAT's why the 1969-72 BBO A-body cars use different rubber mounts - because the frame mounts are also different. Prior to 1969, the BBO and SBO A-body cars all used the same frame and motor mounts. This includes the 1965 car in the original post. The BBO in the 1968 A-body cars with the "small block" mounts is in EXACTLY the same place as the BBO in the 1969 cars with the "big block" mounts. Again, I use the terms in quotes because there is no distinction if the matching frame mounts are used.

Just to be clear, the 1965 442, with a BBO 400, used THE SAME motor and frame mounts as the 330 in the 1965 Cutlass. The 1965 400 motor is externally identical to the 455 asked about in the original post. USE THE 330 MOTOR MOUNTS ON THE 455. These will be Anchor P/N 2261 mounts.

And for general info, the combination of the SBO frame and motor mounts (P/N 2261) puts the crank centerline in EXACTLY the same place as the combination of BBO frame and motor mounts (P/N 2328). Except for model years 1969-72 the same frame and motor mounts were used on all motors in all A-body cars. Also note that B/C body cars ALWAYS had identical mounts for the BBO and SBO. Use frame and motor mounts as a matched set and the crank centerline will always be in the same place.

Finally, here's a summary for the 1964-72 A-body cars:

1964-68 frame mounts use 2261 motor mounts
1969-72 SBO frame mounts use 2261 motor mounts
1969-72 BBO frame mounts use 2328 motor mounts

Great info in this post...please make this a sticky if at at all possible as newbies like me find this stuff very good for quick reference down the road. Cheers and thank you all for a great site.
