Got a kit to replace my open diff with a posi-traction and new gears. It came with two crush sleeves, one larger than the other. The stock pinion had the smaller one on it, but it also looks slightly different to the new one so I’m not sure which crush sleeve I should use. I’m assuming they include two in the kit so that it covers different styles…
One is a chevy 8.2 65-72 sleeve the tall one the other is the BOP and early 64 chevy sleeve
I do not know why they include so much stuff in the BOP kits that is Chevy stuff. Did you get 3 seals too?
USA standard has two nuts 3 seals and 2 crush sleeves.
When i sell the kits i also get the customers exact application and only include what is needed to prevent mistakes.
THE pinion nut can confuse people and then they cross thread stuff and OH BOY...you have a mess.
YOU CAN use the chevy sleeve as long as the sleeve is built so it can pass over the shaft and touch the race of the inner bearing true. IF IT DOES NOT...you can not use it.
The chevy crush sleeve is better for more torque on the nut ...BUT again both can work. JUST use the one that looks like yours.
ALSO remember aftermarket parts sometime just do not look like originals. BUT should perform the same task.
