400 Engine and Muncie removal?

Can I pull the 400 engine with the Muncie 4 speed attached on my 66 442 or will the core support have to come out first?

Thanks-

Dave

I wouldn't think the core support would need to come out, just the rad itself & maybe the crossmember. With help, & maybe a hoist with a leveler, you can pull the engine up while pushing the trans tail down.

We pulled a 350/350 out of a buddy's Chevelle years ago like this...

Remove the tranny cross member and the radiator top cover and rad. The engine/trans will assume about a 45 degree angle to come out. If you use very short chain and a hydraulic hoist, you may not even have to remove the hood. If you remove the heads and intake first (I suggest removing the distributor so it can't get broken), you definitely can leave the hood on the car.

Thanks for both of your replys, I crawled under it today to get the numbers off the Muncie, I couldnt get to the side cover.... then I looked at how much room I had and pulled the tranny out in about 1 1/2 hrs. ( in between digging new flower beds in the back to keep my wife happy lol)
