OAI Fitment Issues

OAI Fitment Issues

Hi guys...browsing to see if anyone has my problem.
I swapped a 350 to a 455 in a 70 supreme. I kept the same 350 mounts, have a edlebrock performer 455 intake and a 670 holley. I purchased a TPP OAI for a 455 and TPP OAI hood and I am having clearance issues. There is no screen on the hood and I would never get the hood closed with one. The vacuum flapper actuator/motor seems to even hit...I layed tape on top and closed to see what was hitting. I can close the hood with the seals of the OAI assembly but it is not a fix.

I would like to use the OAI setup but am wondering what I need to change to fix this.

What is the difference in TPP 350 and 455 OAI assembly ? Is it just the seal ?

I moved your post to it's own thread because it really is a completely different issue than the 1968 in the other thread. The only difference between the 350 OAI adapter and the 455 OAI adapter is the height of the foam seal. Your problem, however, is the Performer intake, which is taller than the stock BBO intake and WILL cause clearance problems. The only aftermarket BBO intake shown to work with the factory 1970-72 OAI setup is the long-out-of-production Edelbrock O4B. The motor mounts are irrelevant so long as you matched the rubber mounts to the frame mounts, which it sounds like you did.

You can take your perfromer intake and have the carb mounting flange milled and holes tapped to give you the clearance needed for the hood.

Hi,
Ran into a hood clearance issue with my '68 442 convert. Had the carb mounting flange milled 1/2", and re tapped mounting holes.


I do have a square bore O4B, if you're interested.
