Anyone do Bumper cut outs on a 67'?

Has anyone ever seen or done cut outs on the bumper of a 66' or 67' Cutlass or 442?
I love the cutouts on the 68' and while I'm doing my build I thought about doing this before I have the bumpers rechromed.

I'm not doing anything stock, I have had this car since 1981, it was my first car and has been pretty stock for years.

Now it is time to do some little things I have always wanted to do and this is one of them. I'm not sure exactly where they should go or how it would look so wanted to ask the question.

If it isn't something you would do I understand so don't rip on me for it, just some input on what it would look like or where they should go.

Thanks ahead of time!

None of the 66/67's came with a dual cutout bumper. If you can fabricate that look into your bumper? It would be cool as all get out. Just have to decide where the best location would be because of the tail lights. Try and photoshop it before you start carving. Might help with the final design.

I'd love to see how this turns out!

I would think it would look sharp.

I have thought so too, I think it would look cool and for any Olds guys who see it it's a cool touch knowing it wasn't an option on these models. Hey oldcutlass, any chance I can get you to give me measurements or even a picture of where your exhaust exits under the bumper?

I think I am all in on this one, especially since I have an extra bumper to try it on. Any measurements or ideas I am open to any thoughts.

I greatly appreciate the input! Thanks to everyone!

I tho k it would look great And have thought about that myself. I have noticed that the newer Dodge trucks have cut outs in the bumpers. Not sure how close they would match the contours of your bumper but if you could cut out the cut outs it would be a great place to start.

Good luck and be sure to post lots of pictures.

I'd be glad to supply some measurements, however, I've got a non-stock 2.5" custom exhaust that's centered in the channel next to the frame and turns down behind the bumper. I think you would want someone with a stockish exhaust for your measurements.

Hmmm. I just might do that with my '64. I too have a spare bumper.

I've had similar thoughts. I was thinking about cutting the "cutout" portions from a late model Dodge pickup bumper and welding them in before chroming.

A damaged 66-67 Toronado rear bumper could also be a donor for the notched sections.

The first time I saw one of these trucks, I remarked to my wife "I think the Dodge design department had some Olds inspiration on that".

Interesting. Chrome shops are still out there and a cutom would be cool for my FrankenCar. Subscribed to see the cutting method.

I've got a 1966-67 Toro bumper that someone cut the lower supports off of to install a mega trailer hitch. In this condition there's no demand from the Toro people. Anybody want to try a set of Toro cutouts as Henry suggested? I'll use my sawzall to cut whatever someone wants out of the bumper for $35 plus shipping.

I am using a Toro bumper's cutouts transplanted to a '68 Delta bumper. I beleive, if I remember correctly, the Toro cutouts are larger than the ones in the 442 bumper- for my larger tailpipes. Looks stock, but never happened from the factory probably. I think these would look great on a 66-67. Might try it on a '66 I have, and want to see what y'all come up with!

Offer still holds on the Toro cutouts. Anyone interested?
