Deck Lid Release for 1972 Supreme Convertible

I bought a Deck Lid Release a while back but never installed it. I can't see how it fits my deck lid without some modifications. Does this look like the correct part for a 72 convertible?

That is definitely not the right one for a 1972 Supreme. It looks like it is from a full-size GM car, late 1970's or 1980's.

Yeah, beenthere is correct, I bought one from him and it looked completely different than the one you have.

That's what I thought. I bought it from someone on ebay a couple years ago and never did anything with it until yesterday. If I remember correctly it was listed as for a Cutlass, but obviously it isn't.
