Maybe someone can answer my question again...really thought i would have my Olds ready to drive today, but another problem arises..Seems my fan blades want to hit my fan shroud.. Can any one tell me what the problem may be.. Do I have the wrong shroud or maybe the wrong fan blade..Motor mounts were replaced...Has a 5 blade clutch fan on it..hits on the bottom of the fan shroud..really bad when driving and braking.. Any suggestions?? thanks...Snookys71Olds

Well, you got some of them:

• Wrong shroud
• Wrong fan
• Wrong clutch / spacer (if it came with one setup, and you've mixed and matched parts of the other)
• Bad clutch (wobbly)
• Bad water pump (wobbly)
• Something messed up with the motor mounts (mixed and matched?)
• Something messed up with the trans mount (too high)
• Fan shroud bottom tabs not pushed fully into their clips in the bottom radiator mount

And I'm sure others can add more .

Thanks Eric....ok.. Motor mounts have been replaced...tranny mount replaced...new water pump.... Is it possible you can tell me what type of fan blade I should have on...I have a 71 Olds Cutlass S with A/C..automatic trans with a 350..seems I have much more clearance on the top than on the bottom.. and yes the tabs on the bottom of the shroud have been cut off and does not pull it down all the way... could that be the problem???

Has anything been done with two front Radiator core support mounts? Possibly shimmed, installed wrong or wrong part?

Either the shroud is too high or the fan is too low. Anything that could cause either of those conditions (or both) could have done this.

Not much to do but start ruling things out.
