60's A-body chrome moldings

Need some information -- have anyone on this chat removed the side body chrome moldings on A body car without hurting the paint? And what tools did you use to do this? I ask because there is a number of chrome metal trim tools available now to do that job? Thanks alsmith787

It depends on what year. For my 67 I didn’t use any special tools I just researched what clips and how they were attached.

Side chrome moldings clips

Thank you it really is all about the clips (CLIPS) can you remove the moldings without scratching the paint and without loosening the clips inside the body panels
I ask this because they make molding removal tools even for 30's 40's 50's & 60's cars that had alot of chrome without tearing the car apart
Thank you

Every single Olds year and model uses different attachment techniques for different pieces of trim. Yes, they can be removed without damage. Without more info, that's all I can tell you.

64' Cutlass side body chrome molding

Thx Joe --- I want to take off the side body chrome moldings for restoration (they're original dull looking & have some bumps & bruises so to speak and after restoration install. Is there a way to do all of this without tearing the car apart? I know that there's a variety of tools now that make this a bit easier than prying with a screwdriver or putty knife. Any recommendations & tips (I know I'm limited without tearing the car apart getting into the interior+ trunk +front fender.) Without marring or chipping the paint. I do need help & a plan before I start this project.
Thanks very much
