Do I own the last cutlass 72 convertible made?

Hey all, New to the forum here.

I own a 72 cutlass supreme convertible. Pretty standard build for the year so far as I can tell. I am the second owner, the first being my grandfather. He claims it was the last convertible off the line (he worked at an olds dealer so it’s possible he’s correct).

Is there any way of verifying this? I’ve looked through the vin threads and tried to parse it out without success. Lansing build, number 252415. I haven’t checked the numbers on the Fischer Body build tag.

Anyone with insight on this bit of family lore?

It is possible. The first thing to check is the build date n the cowl tag. It could be the last rear wheel drive convertible but the did make some convertibles in the early 90's.

Didn't realize they made a few in the 90s. Thanks!

Post a picture/image of the data code (cowl) tag & a picture/image of the VIN data plate tag.

Not really the same thing, though. I wouldn't expect this fact to affect the value of your car, should it turn out to actually be the last of its kind.

That date code is a bit hard to read. It looks like 063, but it's most certainly 06B, which is second week of June. Late in the model year, yes, so, who knows, while it's certainly not likely the last Cutlass, it could very well be the last Cutlass convertible. Probably no way to ever know for sure.

You probably don't have the last one ever made. You may have the last surviving one, and there is no way to tell, and really, no difference to make. I would simply say it is very late production in that year.

Last year for 'em was 1995. More cup holders in that final year.
