Ever sold a car that you knew would be dismantled??
Ok.. I am really having difficulty with this. Put the car on Ebay.. everyone that is interested in it plans on stripping it for parts to fix 2doors. I have never quite been in this position, and I dont like it. Knowing that they are gonna kill a perfectly great 4 door pains me. Ever been in this position?
A black 68 Toro, I sold to a guy 10 years ago, - cut this car in two

I will admit to looking a a 4-door for parts. Never done it. Either the parts were not what good enough for what i needed or the car was in to good a shape that I couldn't justify tearing it a part. I personally couldn't tear yours apart.

My 2 cents, sad to say but that is the fate of most 4dr cars if they are priced low and not pristine. I would hope not to sell a car to someone who would do that but what difference does it make once the car is not yours and you have cash in hand?.....There are enough of these cars around that a few less on the planet wont be missed...I once did buy a 64 Cutlass 2dr to carve up to fix a basket case conv. I did not tell seller my plan to avoid any hard feelings....as I left with the car the owner said that he hoped to see it at a car show someday. I felt kinda bad but I had to do it.

I understand your dilema on this one. Over the years, many nice cars have been torn apart to restore other cars. It is just part of dealing with restoring cars and moreso when parts for the car you are restoring are next to impossible to find in good condition and are not reproduced. I am even contemplating parting out my documented 1970 SX which is, in my opinion, a popular collector car. I wrote down some, not all, the parts on the car and the price they are selling for and it added up to more than I am asking for the complete car. If I keep getting such a lack of response on the car as I have been getting, I am going to part it out. I already have a guy that wants just the rolling shell to restore another car. If the buyer is willing to give you what you want for the car then just try to be happy with the fact that he is going to be happy and content with what he is going to do with the car. You can't save them all, even though I try to do that myself.
Parting out a 1970 W-30
I purchased a 1970 442, W-30 from a farmer who had bought it for his son to drive and the boy blew the motor up....The farmer towed the car home and put it behind the barn where it sat for 20 years and rotted. When I found it it was complete down to the wing nut on the carburetor....BUT it was ate up with rust........basically the bottom 12 inches of the car was gone and the motor was blown up.......As much as I hated to I parted the car out and then had the body and frame crushed.....Oh well... I still have the hood and air cleaner as I put it on my 1970 Supreme convertible....Everything else went Bye Bye....
Boy I don't know 65az.. I don't think I could go through with it. I sold my 72 Plymouth Satellite Sebring to a guy who was going to do what everyone else does and convert it over to a Road Runner/GTX clone instead of leaving it as was when there are almost none around this area still as a Satellite Sebring. I hated selling it but he paid me what I wanted I wanted so who was I to judge.
If your price is high enough (and the car is worth it), it should go to a good home where it will be enjoyed rather that parted out anyway I would imagine.

over the years I cant tell you how many cherry 455 Vista Cruisers we cut up just for an engine, 4 doors Cutlasses we stripped for dash boards.
Years ago, I helped a friend part out an original, slightly rusty, 69 GTO, RAIII, 4 speed because we wanted the engine! I wish I had it back...

Great news!! A guy from Alabama purchased the car.. and is keeping it intact and original! Told him about the website.. he should be joining up! That really makes me feel better about selling it. So watch for him on here.
That is really great new's!!! glad to hear it!!!! =) I wish i would have never sold my '84, it is now sitting in a yard half torn apart. I was told it was to be a drag car mostly stock but not the engine of course, ended up as a lawn ornament. =(
Hope its not the case with your old car, but sometimes guys just aint honest about what their plans are when the buy a car. Guy who bought the last Olds I sold told me how he just retired, had diabetes and high blood pressure, and wanted to buy my car to enjoy his remaining years / relive his youth, etc etc. Sounded like a nice enough story. He sold that car within a year, and its been "flipped" quite a few times since, the price going up each time.
Truth is, the guy paid me more for the car than anyone else was willing to, and I took the money and ran. I wouldn't have cared if he told me he was entering it into a demolition derby, parting it out, or painting it with mauve housepaint. Best we can do is try to be good "gaurdians" of our cars as long as we own them...that's more than enough, without worrying about the next guy. I try to do my best, within the limits on my time, talent, and money.
