Blower Motor & Wheel....

Replacing blower motor & wheel on my '76 Cutlass tomorrow. Any known ''special'' issues or conditions I need to be aware of?

No issues that caused any problems. The wheel depth was smaller than original but, after install seems to blow better than original. Likely blade pitch. The vacuum hose had to be ''slightly'' modified to get a solid fit but, again. Not a big deal.

Biggest issue to overcome was in sourcing the damned thing in the first place. Not a lot of information on these '76 motors / wheels. If keeping the wheel, the new motor shaft size has to be spot on. If the motor is good, a stand alone wheel purchase is almost impossible. I got a lot of "Will not fit your vehicle" notifications during my many searches. Finally, Summit had the motor / wheel combo. Around $ 50.00 delivered. That, and a $ 6.00 tube of silicone to seal it off.

A pretty simple install, overall.

Thanks for the follow-up, KW, even though you got no tips and I have no direct use for the info. So many times a question is asked, and then the OP doesn't share his experience. You get an A+, and recognition as a valued member of the forum!

Thanks for the compliment Ragtop. I am a moderator on a truck forum and a past moderator on another so, I understand the importance of having (1) respondents to threads and (2) follow-up of tech questions and issues. Even if only by the OP. Especially if resolution or other pertinent information has been discovered.

It can be very frustrating, even to parties that don't have a need, when 1st posts go unfulfilled. What may be old news or redundant questions to site old timers, it is new to the "newbie". That's why they are on the site. Granted, many could answer their own questions with a little bit of site-searching. But, it is the way of the interweb.

One of the things I am learning about my '76 Cutlass is, there isn't a whole lot of information out there and parts aren't the easiest thing to find. Straight up or cross-over relationships with the other GM brands. Very surprising since I have read that this Cutlass model year, and subsequent years, was America's best selling cars.

Anyway...thanks again.
