I could not get the photos to load in the thread so if anyone wants to put them in the thread feel free http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/i...t=9d9cf242.pbw

I've used Randy's service to get my 8 track case repaired. Also got replacement belts and brackets from him. Very reasonable guy, and fair prices. I'd recommend him in a heartbeat. His auctions include fully restored 8 track players. This is one that he has listed now. Mine looks identical now that he helped with restoring it. Check out his work it's really impressive... http://cgi.ebay.ca/Oldsmobile-Cutlas...item3a55d3510a

Randy, if you've just joined us, welcome aboard!

I got a good deal on my 8-Track posting in parts wanted here.

I actally ended up with two of them.
I combined the best parts and kept it and sold the other one on evilbay and near paid for both of them.
I just had to paint it, blue ones are hard to come by and you can't ask for everything.

Those gauge deals are pretty cool, I like the bigger diameter ones.
I hate having to wear glasses just to see my gauges, if they were mounted on the front edge of the hood I'd be fine, my eyes got old...not me.

That one isn't a bad deal considering what a PITA it is to put together an original one from pieces parts, repo cases and parts are really expensive and nobody repos the player unit. The cases are almost always cracked, the pad thing on front gets the funk, and the wiring always seem to be cut because the thing would work on any car being stand-alone units.

I like mine, sounds just like it did when new, the distortion and wow and flutter is very nostalgic.

I really need to get another tape someday.

I was thinking the same thing. The 2 piece underdash AC pieces are really hard to come by and they usually cost an arm and a leg. If Allan's is a single piece that was modified, he did an incredibly good job. Looks awesome.

Hello,
I'm here.
Thank you for the warm welcome and kind words.
I just posted an ad in the classifieds for the housings mentioned in this thread. "Gauge and stereo housings"
I don't intend to use the forum to just sell and run but I also don't have a lot of time to hang out online. I am currently helping someone in a thread here with an 8 track drive motor problem.
I'll be happy to help with 8 track info any time or other Olds stuff for that matter.
I have a 70 Olds 442 4 speed, black hardtop with gold stripes.
The best/quickest way to contact me is via email at w70442@hotmail.com. I'll add my email address to my sig if I can.
Randy

I emailed Randy but thought I'd post here. My car has AC and my mechanic said he needs to modify the unit to work. Any one else have insight?

He's partly right. The lower AC valence has to be cut to accommodate the width of the 8 track carrier. From the factory they were 2 piece valences if ordered for a car with AC and 8 track. There are threads about this on the site somewhere.

EDIT: I believe Randy has the template that will show where to cut the existing valence so the underdash unit will fit. Send him an email or PM
