service lights

I have a 1982 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme. And my check engine light keeps coming on. It did not start coming on till I switched the fuel pump. How do I reset the service light. Or get it to go off ?? Please help

Disconnecting the battery and then reconnecting it after a few minutes might clear it. I've had success doing this on some cars over the years. But if the problem is still there, it'll just come back on again.

If it does, you might go to Autozone and have them read the code for you. They'll do it for free. Other stores might, also, but I don't know which ones.

do you have the owners manual or a service manual, my old 80s ford would show codes w an analog voltmeter you counted the sweeps and the # corresponded to a failuremode. if you knew why it went on it mught be easier to shut it off ?

First off check everything around the fuel pump for issues, like broke or disconnected vacuum hoses. It is easy to break or disturb something since the fuel pump is hard to get to on these cars. I assume you have the 307?
If that does not work, pull the codes as described here:

Let us know what you find...
