Noticed today that my front clip looked like it was taking a bit of a nose-dive I checked the sopport pucks on top of the frame-one was semi-crushed and and the other was not.Both pucks were shimmed out with square metal spacers.
What size are these pucks/mounts supposed to be?
The dive is not really obvious, but while the bumper is off ,thought it would be a good time to fix.Also, is it a good idea to put some fender brackets in for support before paint?

Yes that bushing looks a little worse for wear! I agree this would be a good time to replace it. I don't know the size right off, but suspect you can find it at several of the parts stores. I'd try RockAuto first, and if no luck there then the specialty stores like Fusick or Year One. If you want to say original be sure you get a square one. Years ago I purchased a set and when they arrived they were round Probably one of those things that some parts stores consider the same for many different models or even other GM makes.

Yeah, they should be sqaure "Hockey Pucks", like the ones they use to play hockey in the Superman Bizarro World.

Don't throw away the steel shims, you need those for height adjustment and Fusick's gets $6.50 each for the things last time I checked.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to put the braces to the lower front fender on before paint so they don't flop around when they're working on it.

 

Those big square shims are also available at NAPA. Been there, done that.

Those are the "core support body mounts". Shims were for alignment - look at the back of the fender in relation to the door. Shimming the core support moves the front of the fender up/down.
This body mount is different than the general A-body piece, so get it from someone that has a special part # for the olds, like Fusick. It's not about being point-perfect, it's about fitting. IIRC, the general A-body part has a thicker round protrusion that goes into the frame, preventing it from fitting in the Olds frame.
