seat question

Hello guys and gals,

I have a pair of bucket seats out of some GM a-body car of the 70-72 range. will the cutlass specific upholstery work on these or do I need to get the proper upholstery for these seats?

Thanks,
Mark

Mark, not sure what you mean by your comment. If you're replacing the seat covers, also do the foam padding. Check Legendary Auto Interiors for the color you want. They have the proper stitch patterns for the 70-72 Cutlass models. The patterns are different from the 71 f85 (Cutlass) to Cutlass S and Cutlass Supreme.

Also note: you need new seat rails to mount the seats on. The ones for the bench seat most 71 Cutlass models came with will not work for bucket seats. It also means changing out the carpet too, as most of the factory carpet under a bench seat did not overlap with the rear carpet.

The 1969-1972 A-body bucket seat frames are all identical. The correct repro upholstery and foam for a Cutlass fits fine.

I just looked at the seats you bought on one of your other threads. They look to be in excellent condition. Not sure if I'd want to do anything than install them and check out the butt print for a while. The seat backs look mint. Just curious, is your car interior black? If it is I doubt a lot of folks will even pay attention to them.

One is in good shape and has just been re-covered. The other one's upholstery is like cardboard and very brittle.

Those seat backs are reproduced if it ends up coming to that.
