Rear coil spring insulators

Ill throw a question. 76 Cutlass.
Rear coil springs, should they have insulators on both ends of spring, or just on lower/ upper end? Service manual dont make me any wiser, no mention nor illustration about it. I had only on lower end, but they are rotten.
Wondering should there be on upper end too? My springs have round ends on both ends, so cant really figure from there either.

They should go on top of the spring.

And lower end without? Great, then my setup has been wrong way. No wonder why the upper end on frame looks so polished.......
Nevertheless- thank you.
