I wish my 55 looked like it used to too. It is a very nice car And when you are done with it I am sure it will look like that again.

At least you still HAVE the car. My '70 SX is long gone, as well as the 2 rare snapshots of it. I can only hope it has new life somewhere after 28 years of MIA. Have fun with your project.

What direction are you moving in? I'm south of you down in Medford Oregon and have a car with relatively rust free quarter panels I'm considering parting out. John

i love the first picture posted... i really remember those slotted mags in the 60's and 70's. AR makes an inexpensive one to consider:

what color is your '71? it looks like mine - #67 Sienna Gold:

yes mine is color #67 sienna poly...mom put those wheels on it right after she bought it..i never have liked them...they were 14x7 anyways and dont clear the disk brakes i put on it. i got weld wheels cheap. when i buy new wheels again im leaning toward the weld rodlite..looks similar to the slots but better in my eyes...nice car!

the aluminum slots were the wheels to have in the early 70s. They were installed on my SS one month after I bought it, Feb, 1970. They were American Racing

The pants on your mom look like like the trumpet exhaust tips used on dual exhaust systems. ( must have been a '70's thing) Chumley

wow..very brave soul you are for doing this all yourself. In fact I plan on only having the bare minimum replaced on my rear 1/4's like a certain video I have of some shop cutting up a 1/4 and sticking it between the outer wheelhouse and outside 1/4.

thanks for sharing!!

very cool...for some reason I have the inclination that you are also the guy who fabbed his own full 'glass flip front on his chevy truck...maybe on a fiberglass forum?..lol...maybe not. Due to us having 6 kids, and only my wife working as of June this year, her cutlass may not get the best hands on it, but O figure as long as I can show the video to another bodyman to do the work, and paint it for 2500 or so, we will be in business for awhile until we can afford to have it done better.

good luck, and way to bring a thread back from the dead..lol

welded it with a millermatic 175..turned down to just above "1" and about 45 on the wire speed..took me several days to weld it..as i just go out and make a pass as i have time..today i was was doing stuff outside most of the day..so every 15-20 minutes i would go in and do another round of weld spots on it,so it finally got finished today..my worse fear is warping the qtrs badly..so ive been very careful not to weld too much without proper cooling time...
