Evening everyone. I'm guessing this has been asked before but I searched back a year in the archives and didn't see it.

Was OAI able to be ordered as a stand alone option on the Supreme in 1970? I'm going to look at a 70 convertible(350, auto) that has functional ram air, and the paint on the hood matches the rest of the car, but I didn't think ram air was available on the Supreme.

The seller says it's original to the car. I'll ask him for a build sheet when I go out there. Was it fairly common for OAI to be dealer installed?

Is there a place I could look to decode the Fisher Body tag or the build sheet?

The W25 hood was not available from the factory on a '70 Cutlass Supreme in any way shape or form. Not only do I have the resources that say it couldn't be ordered, I have production figures that say none came with it.
The seller obviously won't be able to prove it. I'd love to call his bluff.
The dealer, however, could mount one on the trunk if that's what the buyer wanted.

 

Actually, I think the W-25 hood COULD have been installed on a Cutlass Supreme. Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't some of, if not the majority of the Indy 500 Pace Cars Cutlass Supremes? The W25 hood was part of that package and trim decor.

 

Per the sales/order guide the W-25 option was not an available factory option on the 70 Cutlass Supreme, as detailed in the sales/order guide. Yes when the Cutlass pace car option was order the W25 was part of the package.

Pace cars and don't forget the SX's!!

 

True, only as part of part of the Y74 package. But not under the W25 RPO.
And not part of any SX, W32 or otherwise.
Yes, there are some '70 records existing, but they are limited.
